Julia Vazquez
Julia Vazquez is a senior at UC San Diego studying Biochemistry and minoring in Music.
She is a classically trained Violist who has been studying orchestral music for 12 years under the guidance of LA Philharmonic Violist Richard Elegino. Her studies of music theory have allowed her to learn piano and violin in parallel with her work as a violist.
Julia has had the opportunity to be assistant principal violist of the GRAMMY Award winning Mira Costa High School Orchestras. With this ensemble she has traveled on tour in Spain, performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and played in a pit orchestra for the musical production of Into the Woods.
Now, Julia is a Violist and Production Assistant for the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus. This esteemed community orchestra’s demanding concert series has allowed her to play famous orchestral works like Stravinksy’s “Firebird”, Beethoven’s 6th Symphony, and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloe.
